 Studio Policy

YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO READ AND SIGN THE UPDATED POLICY BEFORE YOUR FIRST LESSON.

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS

  • Students MUST follow the practice directions given to them. DAILY PRACTICE (at least 5 days and preferably 7) is required and expected in order to make progress. Practice needs to become a HABIT. Parents should assist with practice sessions and provide a supportive environment for the student. Our Parent's Guide To Piano Practice will point you to the right directions. ^_^

  • Students are expected to arrive at lessons on time. If a student is late, the lesson will still finish at the original end time.

  • It is IMPERATIVE and EXPECTED that students bring ALL lesson materials to every lesson. Should a student arrive without their materials, the teacher reserves the right to dismiss the student and a makeup lesson will NOT be offered.

REGISTRATION

Students must register by July 15th for the entire upcoming academic year. The academic year begins in September and ends in the following June. A $60 yearly registration fee must be paid by July 15th to reserve their spot on the schedule, or their spot is no longer guaranteed. This fee will count toward your first payment.

Please understand that it’s challenging to create a schedule that suits everyone. Therefore, time slots will be granted on a “FIRST COME FIRST SERVED” basis. The earlier you register, the more likely you will get the day and approximate time frame you prefer.

The yearly registration fee and tuition are non-refundable.

PAYMENT

Payments are due the week before the first lesson of the upcoming month. A $25 late fee will be imposed if your payment is not received by the 1st of the month. Payment methods:

  • Zelle: sunnysidemusicdenton@gmail.com (recurring payment setting available)

  • Venmo: @sunnysidemusicdenton

  • Cash App: $sunnysidemusicdenton

  • Cash / Check

Please DO NOT select “for goods or services” on payment apps because the teacher will be charged a fee to receive your payment. If this occurs, the fee will be added to your next payment.

Tuition is calculated annually and divided into installments. The student is guaranteed that the teacher will be teaching the number of lessons scheduled. Payment options:

  • Pay in full (due September)

  • 2 installments (due September and January)

  • 10 installments (every month, September through June)

If you enroll in the middle of a semester, tuition will be prorated.

MAKEUP LESSON POLICY

  • Missed lessons, for any reason, will not be made up.

  • Where possible and upon agreement, an online lesson is available if you are unable to attend a lesson due to mild illness or inclement weather.

  • A "Makeup Week" is built into both Fall and Spring semesters; this week is reserved for either teacher illness, teacher emergency, or inclement weather. Extenuating circumstances (i.e. hospitalization) will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and you are encouraged to communicate in a timely fashion.

  • If there is inclement weather, lessons will be moved online by 2:00pm. You will receive an email with a link to your lesson. Please be sure to have all your materials ready and position the camera so that it shows both hands on the instrument. If you are unable to do an online lesson, that lesson will be made up during "Makeup Week" posted on the Studio Calendar.

HOLIDAYS AND BREAKS

The studio will be closed on the following holidays, and tuition is accounted for these breaks:

  • Thanksgiving Week

  • Winter Break

  • Spring Break

  • The month of July and August

TERMINATION OF LESSONS

It is expected that students will commit to lessons for the academic year (September-June). If for any reason, the student needs to terminate their lessons, one month's notice is required. Reminder: tuition is non-refundable.

COMMUNICATION

Please check your email often, especially on the day of the student’s lesson. If there is an emergency, the teacher is ill, or there is inclement weather, an email will be sent to you.

Please communicate by text if you are running late. If the student is going to miss a lesson due to unforeseen circumstances, illness, etc., please communicate no later than an hour before the lesson starts.
